We often refer to developing a growth mindset in our students, and how our work with the Habits of Mind helps with this. Recently, we found a great article that distills these concepts into a quick and easy way to explain what it means to teach a growth mindset and how parents can help: “Praise your child explicitly for how capable they are of learning rather than telling them how smart they are.” Examples of conversations that foster either a fixed mindset or growth mindset are outlined in the article, along with a video explanation by Dr. Carol Dweck.
