On Saturday, April 25, some of the world’s best student bridge-builders will flock to Portland to test their skills at the 2015 International Model Bridge Building Competition. Competitors represent 27 regions in 21 states (including those traveling from New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Tennessee, Florida and Illinois, to name a few), along with a Nepalese contingent that will be shipping bridges for testing. Two local students from this year’s event host, Riverdale High School, will represent Portland at this year’s contest, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Oregon Museum of Science and Industry Auditorium. This is the first time the international competition is hosted in Portland. Spectators may attend the competition for free (fees for parking and entrance to museum exhibits is separate).
