It’s almost time…Road to Riverdale – Field Day 2012!

Saturday Schedule

Be there by 9:00 a.m. to march in the parade!

Field Day is fast approaching on June 1st. We have a full day of Olympic fun planned for your whole family. Please remember to bring your littles ones to enjoy the Pre-K zone. We’ll have fun Olympic activities, crafts and cookies! It’s time to sign up for one of the most fun days of the year!

Please read all of the information below thoroughly so you will be well prepared for Field Day.

Student Packets- Student packets will be going home with your youngest student at RGS on Thursday. Each packet will contain:

T-Shirts (if you ordered any)
Student Athlete Numbers & safety pins (please safety pin this to the back of your child’s shirt on Saturday morning)
Event LABELS- you will receive 3 labels with your student’s event times on them. One for your student, one for you, one for someone else. Bring them with you on Saturday!!! Many people like to stick these upside down on their shirt or pants to read their student’s schedules. There will not be extras at Field Day.
Volunteer Schedule- please know where YOU need to be on Saturday.

Volunteers- the volunteer schedule is here! Please read these volunteer guidelines and help our kids have a great day! It takes a village to pull this day off- Thank You!

Friday Events- Please see Friday’s Schedule. The Talent Show is in the morning. The entertaining Class Relays and 7th-8th Tug of War will start at 1:30 on Friday at the school. Come cheer them on!

Saturday- Important Information

Rules- good sportsmanship, NO PETS

Parking- will be tight! Walk if you can, and please respect reserved and coned-off spaces.

Fun Run: The Fun Run is for all ages. Assemble in front of RGS at 8:20am. Start at 8:30am-don’t be late! The route is approx. 1-1/2 miles around the neighborhood “Loop”. (Start at crosswalk in front of RGS, head down Breyman/Edgecliff, right on Iron Mtn., right on Greenwood, left on Breyman, finish back at crosswalk in front of school.) There will be markers at each turn to guide the participants.

Parade: Arrive at 9:00 to line up: Parade begins at 9:15am SHARP! All students should meet their classes in the area by the Commons. Look for your grade sign & classmates. Scouts and Band Members will lead the parade. Children Pre-K and younger may ride bikes or wagons and join in the fun. Remember: No pets!

Opening Ceremonies: 9:30am- Let the events begin!

Field Events: Our own Olympic Games will take place from 9:40am-1:20pm. Events are color coded by balloons to find your way on the Field.

Pre-K Zone: Events designed for our youngest Olympians. Follow the purple balloons near the playground. Open 9:45-11:30am

BBQ: Get your hand stamped at the BBQ check-in table in the Commons entryway and enjoy a delicious lunch brought to you by {“The Old Spaghetti Factory”.} If you pre-ordered lunch, your name will be on THIS master list (no ticket needed). There will be limited lunch orders available on Saturday.

Field Day 6th-8th Grade Dance: {“Candyland”} from 7:30 to 9:30pm. $5 at the door but permission slips are required—turn them in ASAP to Betsy. This event is for Riverdale students only.

T-Shirts: A few extra t-shirts were ordered. They can be purchased for $10 at the Volunteer Tent on the Field!
