Art Literacy parent volunteers have been leading the next wave of lessons, inspired by sculptor Auguste Rodin. Last week, 3rd grade classes learned about his life, his artistic process and an array of his amazing sculptures. Students then tried their hands at creating their own sculptures with colorful sculpting clay. The result was an ocean-themed creation inspired by Rodin’s “The Gates of Hell” – theirs was called “The Gates of Atlantis,” which now hangs in the hallway. The exhibit, Rodin: The Human Experience, is currently on display at the Portland Art Museum. Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers for this enriching lesson.
